Puy St Vincent

Puy St Vincent is a purpose built ski resort situated over one mile above sea level in one of the most stunning settings at the edge of the National Park "Les Ecrins" in the French Alps. It is famed for its micro-climate and excellent skiing and snow record. It's a well recorded fact that its genuine micro-climate will often give it those extra falls of snow which, over the season, will ultimately make a huge difference to the overall snow depth.

Puy St Vincent was awarded International Family Ski Resort of the Year in 2004.

Bars
- The three main bars in Puy St Vincent 1600 are Au Petit Chamois (little deer), Le Tire Bouchon (corkscrew) and the english style bar "Bar 1600". All are family owned and friendly and good value for money. The Petit Chamois also acts as the meeting place for many British skiers. There is also a popular bar in the restaurant attached to our apartment in "Le Parc Aux Etolies" at 1800m

Lunch restaurants - Sitting outside the Petit Chamois on a sunny lunch time is excellent and great value for money. It is a great place to eat and enjoy a home made pizza, pasta, salad or a local French specialty dish with a glass of wine. Children are also well catered for.   There are Many good restauarants on the mountain itself including - the "Altitude" Restaurant at 2000 meters is a great stopping off place for mid morning coffee or lunch and a good place to sunbath on deck chairs. It tends to get a bit cold in the afternoon. The "etolie de neige" restauant opened during the 2003-4 season and is a large log cabin at the top of the high speed six man chair lift that serves excellent food (we recommend the soup if it is a cloudy day) and the hot chocolate is superb! Other restauarnts include "le Tournaux" which is a charming restaurant for walkers, cross country and off piste skiers and "Le Pendine Hotel" by the base of the six man ski lift at PSV 1400.

Restaurants - There are some really good restaurants on the slopes, around the village of Puy St Vincent and in the pretty village of Vallouise. The food in all restaurants is excellent and typically French with fondues (cheese, meat or chocolate), raclettes (potatoes, cold meats and cooked cheese), pirades (cook your own meat with a variety of sauces, salads and cold meat), tartiflette (potatoes, onions, reblouchon and bacon baked in a pizza oven and served with crusty bread and wine).

Husky rides - These can be booked in the resort for either a half day or a 45 minute taster.

Parasailing (tandem) - Available in Puy St Vincent and bookable within the resort.

Skidoos Rides - Skidoos depart from 1600 throughout the evening as soon as the sun goes down. They are well worth a trip either as a driver or as a passenger.

Ice Skating - Ice skating is available for free opposite the outdoor swimming pools at 1600.

Night Club - There is a night club - Tamara - for those who have enough energy after a full days skiing.

Swimming - At our apartments in Le Parc aux Etolies (Summer and Winter)
